In the early hours of this morning (18 August, 2017), Spain was rocked by a terrorist vehicular “ramming attack” in Barcelona, and another thwarted attack in Cambrils. So far there are 13 fatalities reported and over 100 others are injured. Of those injured 15 remain in critical condition. Spanish authorities report that 4 terrorists have been confirmed killed, and one has been injured.
The Rev. Fred Nile MLC comments:
- “The recent terror attack in Barcelona and Cambrils is a horrific tragedy that touches us all. All civilised peoples would be driven to condemn this objective evil in the strongest terms. We send our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pray that the Spanish authorities drive this evil from their society.”
- “We are very lucky in Australia to be relatively isolated from the full force of this international terror, but we must not be naive about it. Islamist terrorism knows no boundaries, it attacks indiscriminately, targeting defenseless civilians and young children.”
- “Politicians, policy makers and bureaucrats have the power to foster the conditions for this, or prevent it from happening. There is a reason why there haven’t been any similar attacks in countries such as Poland and Hungary, or for that matter, Japan. Why is it that Western European governments, including our own, refuse to learn from their wisdom?”
