Democracy fails in Afghanistan
August 17, 2021
As US President Joe Biden announces the last vestiges of the US Military to be withdrawn from Afghanistan the unspeakable but entirely predictable has occurred.
Afghanistan has been returned to the hands of Islamic tyranny under the Taliban who have just now seized the capital Kabul.
This is a crisis for Christians, for women, for children and for the vulnerable of Afghanistan. Death, enslavement and tyranny will reign.
This Taliban directive serves as a stark warning of what lies ahead and a harsh reminder of their brutal 1996-2001 regime during which women were subjected to persistent human rights violations, denied employment and education, forced to wear the burqa and forbidden from leaving home without a ‘mahram’ – a male guardian.
A Taliban controlled Afghanistan means more Islamic terrorists being trained and sent to kill and destroy civilians around the world.
A Taliban controlled Afghanistan means the enslavement and rape of women, the execution of Christians and homosexuals and a new generation of forced child soldiers. A Taliban controlled Afghanistan is not in the interests of the West or the civilised world.
The Christian Democratic Party calls on the Federal Government to immediately send in the Australia military to rescue Australians trapped under the rapidly worsening situation. Urgent aid must be provided to those Afghanis who aided the Australian military in the past two decades. The Federal Government has a duty of care to grant them special exemptions with temporary protection visas along with their families.
