President Donald Trump recently held a press conference during which he directly addressed the issue of far left violence in US political culture. Examples of this violence have been noted throughout his Presidential campaign, and they do not appear to be on the decline. Likewise, Australia is not immune to this problem.

Rev. The Hon. Fred Nile comments:

  • “I watched President Trump’s recent press conference with interest because he made the point of addressing ‘Alt-Left’ thuggery.”
  • “This ‘Alt-Left’ has obviously come to Australia, and this is very bad news.”
  • “We held a rally on Saturday to protest the ‘Safe Schools’ programme. Our event was disrupted physically and our speakers were shouted down. I was disheartened to see the police standing by passively.”
  • “Political violence is a dangerous trend that is increasingly plaguing our societies. It will seriously risk destroying the essence of our democratic culture if not urgently dealt with by responsible authorities.”
  • “Trump set a precedent in critically holding the extreme left under the spotlight in the US. I hope our political class will develop the courage to bring this hypocritical intolerance to an end here too.”
  • “There is no place for any kind of political thuggery in a free democratic society. We condemn it, unreservedly.”
