CDP Policy on Water

Water is a precious resource. Without water there is no life.

Serious investment in Victorian water infrastructure

• New dams must be built.
• Replace open channels with piping to reduce evaporation.
• Projected increase of Melbourne’s population by 1 million must be dependent on adequate water supply.

Serious incentives for every home to become water smart

• Major subsidies for households to collect rainwater and recycle greywater for toilets and gardens.
• Implement a way of saving the cold water wasted while we run water and wait for the hot water to become hot.

Serious incentives for every school, sporting venue and municipal building to become water smart

• Major subsidies for collection of rainwater and the recycling of greywater for toilets and gardens.
• Serious incentives for every school, sporting venue, municipal building, industry and business to become water smart.

Serious consideration of both city and country issue so that the needs of both are fairly addressed

• Melbourne to move onto tighter restrictions now, including shorter showers and less watering of our gardens out of consideration for those in the country who are already on stage 4 or 5 restrictions.

Maximising water recycling

• Substantially increase the low level of our Melbourne waste water currently used in agriculture and industry.
• Major incentives for industry to take responsibility for their own water recycling.

Capitalising on Australia’s ability to innovate and invent to provide clever solutions for wise use of our precious water

• Greater financial rebates and subsidies are needed.
• Greater financial rebates and subsidies are needed.

It is Almighty God who gives and withholds rain.
