About CDP Victoria

The CDP is Australia’s only national Christian political party. It began in the early 1980’s as the Call to Australia Citizens’ Movement founded and led by Fred Nile in NSW. It aims to advance the glory of God in the institution of parliament, and thus promote the true welfare of the Australian people through God honouring legislation. In September 1997 the name was changed to Christian Democratic Party, but the aims and ethos are unchanged.

CDP (Victoria) is a branch of the national Christian Democratic Party. We believe that the present ‘party system’ has destroyed true representative democracy and parliamentary accountability.

CDP candidates are in total agreement with the Party’s aims and principles, yet they are always free to vote on legislation according to conscience.
