CDP and You (CDP NSW)

Thursday, November 04, 2004

1.  Your commitment to CDP is valued.

The CDP’s support base comes from people of all walks of life, who support the aims and objectives of placing competent committed Christians into Parliament.  Except for paid State Office employees,  our members are volunteers.  They volunteer their time, because CDP is a cause worthy of time, commitment and involvement.  CDP welcomes volunteers. The following principles set out guidelines for working in an organisation where the roles of volunteers need to be affirmed and highlighted:-

1.                   Volunteers are our most valuable resource and need to be valued and appreciated.

2.                   Team building will weld the organisation together with “cords that cannot be broken”.

3.                   CDP needs to give them self-worth through their involvement.

4.                   Their involvement is an act of Christian Service and ministry.

5.                   Loving and respectful relationships between volunteers is our way of working..

6.                   It is the expectation that all volunteers want to be productively involved in CDP..

7.                   People who attend only, need to be affirmed, and encouraged to practical service.

8.                   Volunteers should be treated with dignity, acceptance, respect, and the love of Jesus.

9.                   In matters of difference, Christian forbearance is the appropriate response.

10.               Appropriate structures will allow for volunteers opinions to be expressed.

11.               Structures also will allow for volunteers to be actively involved.

2.   Membership of CDP

In today’s fast-changing society, membership is valued in certain organisations, but has been de-valued in other groups, including many churches.  Membership is the key to CDP growing and flourishing, and building our organisation, so instead of two (2)  Parliamentary representatives (in 2003), we may have three, four, or even five MPs’, holding the balance of power in the NSW Parliament.    All laws that are introduced into Parliament, will then tested from a Christian World point of view.

Membership (or pledges of on-going financial support) are both vital keys that will enable proper consultation among our churches, proper professional research and polling of community attitudes, and  the employment of staff to build ownership of CDP, and support CDP Branches in all Electorates.

Membership (or pledges of on-going financial support) is available to be activated anytime on our Website (the "donate" link),    At Branch meetings, a membership report is brought.  New members  can be enrolled on the website by the co-ordinator.  The initial $10 monthly fee can be paid for on our website, by using the Credit Card details of the applicant.   These should appear on the applicant’s application form.   The State Office will then take the person’s membership from there.

One of your branch’s first and fore-most tasks is, at the grass roots level, to help build CDP’s community numerically.  There will be two months each year when a Membership drive,(or pledges of on-going financial support) will be conducted.  We need names and addresses, emails and phone numbers of people who value the work CDP does, and MAY be prepared to commit themselves to our party.  Always bring a Clip-Board to all Branch meetings to gain new contacts from your members. (see Appendix ?? for a  Potential Members Sheet to Print Out.)

Please make Membership your emphasis at each Branch meeting, and through every mail-out that you send. Our goal is 400 new members, (or pledges of on-going financial support) per year in 2003.
