The public area of our CDP website now contains a list of the CDP candidates to date. CDP candidates and workers to familiarise themselves with the contents: http://www.cdp.org.au/fed/2007election.asp.

Election announced for 24 March 2007!

You probably are aware that the NSW State Election will be held on Saturday 24 March 2007. The CDP leadership team believes that Fred has a very good chance of becoming re-elected to the NSW Upper House. The Christian Democratic Party has just six months to mobilise our workers, and recruit new people to help us in a variety of ways to get Fred Nile elected there.

How can you help? (article written 3/10/06)

1. Distribute Letter Box Leaflets
After printing 250,000 letter box leaflets and exhausting our supply, we have had another 100,000 printed to be sent out to fill back-orders for people who will letter box drop their neighbourhood with Fred's leaflet titled "Family Values" - a very effective leaflet which includes most, but not all CDP policies. View our letterbox leaflet order sheet to locate who received the letterbox leaflets in your area – then contact them and offer your assistance distributing these leaflets.

2. Use our Prayer Leaflet
65,000 prayer leaflets have been sent to CDP distributors across the state, and one copy has also been included in the latest issue of Fred Nile’s newspaper, Family World News, due out today. Please take this prayer leaflet to your bible study group or your church, and use it to ask them to pray that God's will be done in this election. A copy of this prayer leaflet is available on the Election page of our CDP website. If you need more supplies, you can view the prayer leaflet order sheet to locate who received the prayer leaflets in your area – then contact them and organise to collect a supply. Please pray for the electoral success for Fred Nile. However, we need your practical support as well as your prayers.

3. Recruit Polling Booth Captains and Workers
Our goal is to have CDP's How-to-votes and Posters at every polling booth in NSW. There are some very small booths that may not be manned, but we are asking for a special effort by all of our CDP team to recruit extra workers for this election. Remember we can increase Fred's vote by over 2% if we have workers at polling booths handing out How-to-Votes.

4. Attend Pre-Poll Centres
The Australian Electoral Commission has stated that Pre-poll Centres will be open from Monday 20th September. If you are retired, or in-between employment, this is a very worthwhile project for your local CDP group / branch - to have our posters, and hand out HTV's at Pre-Poll Booths. Ask your AEC Divisional Returning Officer where the Pre-Poll Booth is located - and schedule a roster.

5. Donate some money
The CDP Management Committee and State Council have set a budget of $300,000 to fund this election campaign. To date we have raised $120,000 for which we thank you, however we cannot spend what we do not have. Please pray about how much you could afford to give to get Fred Nile into the Senate. You can donate online at our website (indicate “Senate donation” in the comments) or post your donation to “CDP Fred Nile election campaign” GPO Box 141, Sydney NSW 2001.

6. Display a Poster
All of our corflute (outdoor all-weather) posters of Fred Nile have been sent out around NSW. If you live on a major or busy road, please check the corflute poster order sheet to locate who received a bulk supply of posters in your area and ask them for a poster to display in your front yard. Remember - no posters are to be displayed in public places until 2 weeks before the election (it’s the law).

Candidate profiles

Only two candidates so far have updated their candidate profiles for this election which are available to the public on our public election website.

Old profiles look like this: Janne Peterson
New profiles come into line with the rest of the website, like this: Michael Horgan

Please send your updated profile text to CDP to replace your old webpage or, for new candidates, to create a new page for you.

The State Electoral Office publishes a candidate handbook for candidates who nominate for this election. The contents of the book appear below:

What is involved in an election campaign?

Read this document (also available on the files menu) which is based on an email sent by CDP office to someone who had some questions about what would be involved in standing as a CDP candidate and what could CDP contribute to a candidate's campaign if they are endorsed by CDP.

Schedule of Campaign Dinner meetings in your area

The schedule of the dinner dates and towns for the State Election Campaign has been prepared by Rev Fred Nile... Click here to open the Campaign Schedule

THE ELECTORATE BRANCH OR CO-ORINDATOR OR CANDIDATE ORGANISES THESE DINNERS. , Please advise us of the venue so we can advertise it in CDP eMag. In previous elections we have had a campaign staff member on at least 2 days' pay per week organising these functions when local people should be taking care of the booking of venues for these dinners and organising for interested people to attend. We don't have the finances to pay someone to do that from the State Office this year, so please organise these meetings OR ELSE THEY WON'T HAPPEN.

Rev Fred Nile has advised that unless at least 30 people have RSVPd for these dinners, he will not be able to attend.

What you need to do to organise one of these dinners:
We need you to book a venue, organise catering, decide how much to charge people or whether or not they order and pay for themselves at the venue. If you will be collecting money and paying for the catering, could you do that locally. If the dinner raises any money, when it's all over you can send in one cheque to our office for Fred Nile's Senate campaign. The CDP office can mail out an invitation to people on the CDP database if you send to admin@cdp.org.au the draft text of the letter and the State electorates to whom you think the invitation should be sent. However, not many people respond to mailouts so if you can phone people that would be good as well (if you need a new list of people and phone numbers we can give that to you if you ask). The dinner can be advertised in eMag if you send the info to admin@cdp.org.au (see the style of the other calendar items in eMag).
More detailed instructions/suggestions are available here >>

Web-based polling booth information system

State Director Phil Lamb launched the Web-based Polling Booth Information Program that we will all be using for the next Election to fill up our polling booths with captains and workers. Most significantly, it will allow you to enter your distribution contact people who should receive your election materials from the campaign despatch rooms.

Your Electorate Coordinator will enter these details, in addition to the quantity of HTV's and Posters required, etc. Don't worry! We will be providing training for this new Internet program. Then our despatch team will be able to send your Election Materials to you in PLENTY OF TIME before Election Day.

This  the best tool you have ever used to organise your polling booths at Election Time.  IF YOU CANNOT USE THIS PROGRAM, PLEASE APPOINT A TRUSTED  'COMPUTER OPERATOR' with whom you can work closely - to enter in all the details for the Election.  Coming soon will be additional information on all the churches in your Electorate  - and all Christian Schools / Organisations.

Find a friend's Electorate on the Internet

We have found a fantastic website which is all you need to help people find out what Electorate they are in for the Federal Election, the one that will see Fred Nile re-elected to the State Upper House.  Click here.  Simply type in your postcode, or suburb, or electorate, and see how incredible this site is as a tool for you to help people at Election time. We have put this search feature on the public CDP election website so you can tell your friends about it.

COULD YOU PLEASE ARRANGE A MEETING WITH YOUR BRANCH OR COORDINATOR IN YOUR ELECTORATE, TO START ORGANISING POLLING BOOTH CAPTAINS AND WORKERS RIGHT NOW!

Handling finances: Branch vs Candidate

Extract from Branch Operations Manual policy on finances

Funds raised for the Branch and deposited in the Branch’s CDP bank account, may not be used for funding local CDP Electorate candidates at election time. This is clearly the responsibility of the person running for Election. Candidate expenses must not be paid for by the Branch.

Once a Candidate has been pre-selected by the Branch, and endorsed by the State Management Committee, a special Campaign Bank Account should be opened by the Candidate in his or her own name. Donations received by the Branch specifically for that Candidate’s election expenses, should be deposited into that Bank Account, and receipts issued using the receipt book provided by the Electoral Authorities at the time of nomination, in the Candidates Kit. The CDP Branch receipt book must never be used for these donations.

Branches will want to assist their Candidate though extra find-raising ventures at the time of the election, and these funds raised are to be deposited in to the Candidate’s own Campaign Account directly. These funds should not pass through the Branch Account in any way.

Expenses for the candidate’s campaign can be paid out of this campaign bank account. Advice should be obtained from the State Office before paying any expenses from the Branch Account in relation to an Election Campaign.

Candidates are required to disclose the income and expenditure in relation to their campaign and more details on this may be found in the AEC Candidate Handbook.

NOTE: The reason for this separation of accounts is that all financial activity at CDP Branch level is reported to the Electoral Authorities as part of the overall financial disclosure by the Party. Confusion can occur when a Candidate submits their own declaration of income and expenses, which have already been reported by the State Branch as part of the overall declaration by the Party as observed through all CDP Bank accounts.

Supporter lists

Send an email at any time to the State Office requesting an up-to-date list of supporters and helpers in your electorate. If you are an approved person to receive these lists, you should expect to receive a prompt response. Please advise the electorate names required and a brief explanation about the purpose for which you want the data and we can figure out the best format in which to provide the data to you.
