During the local government elections, I was encouraged by the number of new Young CDP contacts who came out to support our candidates for council. Helping out at a polling booth is a great way to actively be involved in a campaign, and I certainly enjoyed my time at a polling booth out in Blacktown.

The YCDP Network, our new e-news resource, was launched at the end of September. I have already received some positive responses from people interested in attending our next event. If you or a young person you know would like to sign up for the YCDP Network, please contact me on the details below!

On the 6th of October, I attended the International Justice Mission’s Time For Justice Breakfast at NSW Parliament House. International Justice Mission (IJM) is “a global team of nearly 600 lawyers, social workers, investigators, community activists and other professionals. IJM field offices protect the poor from violence in nearly 20 communities throughout the developing world.” The focus of the breakfast was on the serious issue of child cybersex trafficking, and what IJM, in partnership with others, is doing to address this.

Last month, CDP had a stall at the Australian National Field Days event just outside of Orange. I had the privilege of supporting Dianne Decker, our candidate for the Orange By-Election, as she spoke with members of the community and shared her vision for Orange with them.

Looking back at history, the events recorded in the Bible, and also many instances in my own life, the power of prayer is unmistakable.

James 5:16 says: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

“The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14

We need to be coming together often to pray for the issues that we as a nation are facing – this needs to be a priority.
