The Rev Fred Nile, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party, has given notice that he will be introducing legislation in the NSW Parliament to prohibit individuals approaching others and offering money for sexual favours.

The ‘Crimes Amendment (Soliciting Sex for Payment) Bill 2009 seeks to amend the Act 1900 to prohibit a person soliciting another for sexual gratification for payment.

“This Bill is based on the successful Swedish legislation which has dramatically reduced prostitution in Sweden.

Instead of harassing the prostitutes, the Police will charge the customers, which will become a major deterrent”, said Rev Fred Nile.
