The Rev Fred Nile, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party, has raised in the NSW Parliament, the serious allegations made by the former Assistant Police Commissioner Mr Clive Small concerning organised crime in NSW in his new book “Smack Express”.

Reverend the Hon. Fred Nile: I address my question to the Minister for Police.

• Has a former New South Wales Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Clive Small, claimed in his new book, Smack Express, that the then Commonwealth central Bureau of Criminal Intelligence and the current Federal police force had produced a secret list of 341 suspected organised crime members operating in New South Wales particularly, such as Trimbole, Sergi, and Barbaro, et cetera?

• If his claims are true, has a copy of this list never been given to the New South Wales Police Force, nor apparently has it asked for a copy of this list?

• What urgent action will he take to secure a copy of this list to assist the New South Wales Police Force in its operations against organised crime in New South Wales?

The Hon. Tony Kelly: I thank Reverend the Hon. Fred Nile for his question. While I have a copy of the book, I have not read it yet, but I undertake to ensure that the Commissioner of Police obtains a copy of it. If there is anything he believes needs to be investigated, I am sure he will do so.
