On behalf of the Christian Democratic Party, the National President Rev Hon Fred Nile MLC, has expressed condolences and prayers for the victims of the horrific Victorian bushfires.

“We are shocked by the sudden fiery destruction that has befallen so many Victorian families, country towns and farms” said Mr Nile.

“Whilst Victorians struggle with lack of water, Queenslanders are suffering extreme floods.

“We urge all Australians to support the Salvation Army Bushfire Appeal by sending donations to http://salvos.org.au or telephone 13 SALVOS (13 72 58) (credit card) or via any Westpac branch”.

Elaine and Fred Nile have forwarded a personal donation of $2,000 and the Christian Democratic Party will send its donation after the CDP Management Committee meets next Saturday.

“We fully support the proposed Victorian Royal Commission into these disastrous fires to ensure there is never again such a staggering loss of human life.

“We call for a review of arson laws to ensure there is a strong deterrent for any person planning to start a bushfire” said Mr Nile. End.
