Christian Democratic Party Parliamentary Leader and President, Rev the Hon Fred Nile MLC, has emphatically rejected the suggestion that Guantanamo Bay Taliban Islamic terrorist inmates could be welcomed to Australia.

Commenting on report attributed to a spokesman for Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard that detainees could be accepted in Australia under strict conditions, Reverend Nile said: "Never! Australia's immigration policy must exist for the benefit of Australia."

"There is no possible benefit for our nation in this proposal. If the Government pursues this dangerous plan, then the Christian Democratic Party membership will work tirelessly to ensure that the ALP and its Greens allies are punished on election day."
