Zim Regime Invents Bomb Plot To Hide Cholera Crisis

Thursday, 8th January 2009

Reverend Fred Nile, the Christian Democratic Party Leader who in November-December 2008 hosted a successful visit to Australia by Zimbabwe’s Anglican Bishop of Harare, Rt Rev Dr Sebastian Bakare, has accused the Mugabe regime of inventing a bomb plot in an attempt to obscure the reality of a grave and unprecedented public health crisis.

“The World Health Organisation reports that from 35,000 cases of cholera, more than 1,778 Zimbabweans have died. This is a tragic situation in a country where cholera was unknown, brought about by the failure of the authorities properly to maintain sewerage and water reticulation. Many thousands more lives are at risk.”

“Instead of concentrating all possible energy on providing clean water and medical care to the hapless population, the authorities have falsely charged seven senior MDC members with involvement in a bomb plot.”

“Bishop Bakare tells me that the only practical way to get clean water to the citizens of Harare with the necessary urgency is through drilling a large number of wells throughout the city and suburbs. Australia has the expertise and the experience. Let’s try to save thousands of lives by negotiating a speedy start to a massive water drilling program.”
