Apology Making a Mockery of Aboriginal Suffering

Rev Fred Nile, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party, has criticised the recent call for an apology to be made to Homosexuals.

“For almost one hundred years, paternalistic white governments would march into Aboriginal communities and forcefully remove Aboriginal children from their parents and families. Whilst in some rare cases, as in any part of society, this was actually for the child’s own good, for the vast majority it was a tragic event that would emotionally and psychologically scar a generation. As a parent, it’s hard to comprehend the suffering and pain this must have caused, not to mention that inflicted on the child themselves. Whilst past pages of history cannot be unwritten, we can learn, together inscribing a new chapter upon our hearts and national psyche.

In light of this endeavour however, I find it abhorrent that other groups are unashamedly trying to cash in on the wave of public sentiment. Sections of the Homosexual community and an alleged group of so-called ‘Church leaders’ have endeavoured to make a mockery of the suffering of the Aboriginal community by calling for an apology from the Christian Church because it doesn’t happen to condone or embrace their sexual activities exactly as they wish. It’s upsetting to think that some would seek to detract from the event by pushing their own political agenda. They should be ashamed”, said Rev Nile.
