Christian Democratic Party deplores Chasers' segment

Christians and all decent Australians are appalled by an offensive attack on Christianity by the ABC, according to lead Senate candidate for the Christian Democratic Party, Paul Green.

Pastor Green was commenting on a segment of "The Chasers", which purported to depict the face of Christ delineated by excrement in a toilet bowl.

"The National Broadcaster clearly worships ratings, without regard to the distress caused to the majority of Australians who worship God," said Pastor Green. "I call on the ABC to observe standards of decency and good taste. We may sympathise with the perpetrators for their lack of faith, but we cannot condone their deliberate and disgusting assault on the faith of others."

Christian Democratic Party President Reverend the Hon Fred Nile strongly supports Paul Green's view. "ABC management should accept the blame for this outrage. Everyone in the ABC should be aware that a similar offence directed at Mohammed, even in this country, could endanger the lives of everyone working at the ABC. Christians do not make threats, we do not hate, we do not take revenge. But Christians are entitled to express their disgust."
