Senate Candidate not keen on cohabitation advert

Christian Democratic Party senate team leader in NSW, Pastor Paul Green, has criticised one of the Federal Government’s "climate change" advertisements.

In the advertisement a youthful male announces "I have just moved into a flat with my girlfriend. . . . we changed all the light bulbs for energy saving bulbs."

"It is a fact of life that many couples choose to live together without marrying," said Paul Green, "but there is no need for taxpayers funds to be used to advertise such a lifestyle as if it were customary or desirable."

"Most Australians, especially parents of teenage and post-teen daughters, would prefer an advertisement along the lines of ‘My bride and I have just moved into a flat. . ."

Paul and his wife Michelle have six children. "Marriage is wonderful," Paul Green concluded, "and the Christian Democratic Party is very much in favour of marriage."
