The Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group)[CDP] is now formally registered with the Australian Electoral Commission.
On 16 August 2007 the AEC advertised the CDP's application for registration, and invited objections in terms of the Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918. The sole objection, in the judgement of the AEC, did not constitute a barrier to registration.
Christian Democratic Party Leader Reverend the Hon Fred Nile MLC welcomed the news. "We are now in a position to campaign strongly for the Federal Election, with excellent candidates for the Senate and for the House of Representatives."
Christian Democratic Party Senate teams are led by Pastor Paul Green and Hon Elaine Nile in NSW, Ewan McDonald and Dallas Clarnette in Victoria, and Gerard Goiran and Peter Watt in Western Australia."
Senate team leader for New South Wales Pastor Paul Green said "Confirmation of registration is good news, and will encourage our supporters to work even harder to bring a Christian perspective to the Federal Parliament."
