Boycott Channel 10 - Christian Democratic Party

In a joint statement, Christian Democratic Party Leader Reverend the Hon Fred Nile MLC and Senate team leader for NSW, Pastor Paul Green, have called for a boycott on Channel 10 until that broadcaster drops the program "Californication".

"We are calling on all Christians and all other Australians who uphold family values to boycott a channel which is striving to degrade its viewers," said Reverend Nile. "We want a viewer boycott and an advertising boycott."

Paul Green added: "Australians are entitled to expect a measure of upliftment from television. Channel Ten seems utterly unrestrained in its charge in the opposite direction. The combination of sacrilege and pornography reportedly displayed by Californication is wholly unacceptable."

On a related matter, Reverend Fred Nile has given radio interviews today on the subject of art which is offensive to Christians, and example being Priscilla Joyce Bracks' double portrait which seems to imply interchangeablity between Jesus Christ and the evil mass-murdering terrorist leader, Osama bin Laden.

"Some filmmakers, artists and other communicators seem to think that Christianity is fair game for any kind of attack. Firstly, it is quite proper for Christians to defend their faith with all their God-given persuasive skills. Secondly, those who attack Christianity should humbly acknowledge that they are spared the kinds of violent and even murderous responses which are routinely provoked by real or imagined slights against the Muslim religion."
