Australia must lead the fight against slavery

Christian Democratic Party Senate Candidate, Pastor Paul Green, has called for Australia to take the lead in campaigning for the abolition of slavery worldwide.

"The continuation of slavery is a blight on humanity," said Paul Green. "The Australian people expect our government to take the lead in expunging this great stain from the human race."

Paul Green continued: "Islamic nations are the worst offenders, but the wickedness of slave labour still persists in other nations including Communist China. Australian should campaign against slavery through the UN’s Working Group on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, and by all other available means."

Reverend Fred Nile added: "William Wilberforce and his allies including Thomas Clarkson and John Newton campaigned for two decades to achieve the abolition of slavery in the British Empire. We should now aim to abolish slavery worldwide within 20 years. Possible sanctions by Australia against countries which permit slavery include restricting diplomatic contact, rejecting free trade relationships and refusing to issue visas to citizens of slave nations."

Father of six Paul Green concluded: "In Australia our children cannot be enslaved; but other people’s children are enslaved by the thousands. I call on Australians to help defeat slavery through prayer and political action."
