Rev Fred Nile Leads Country Community Forums Throughout New South Wales

The Rev Hon Fred Nile, the longest serving Member of the NSW Upper House, first elected in 1981, addressed a series of Country Forums throughout NSW country centres, including Bathurst, Orange, Wellington, Dubbo, Parkes, Grenfell, Cowra and Blayney, etc.

The Rev Hon Fred Nile gave a report on current issues in the NSW Parliament and answering questions on local and State issues.

“I have always sought to vigorously defend the rights of NSW farmers and country residents as they are the moral and social backbone of our nation,” said Rev Fred Nile.

The Rev Fred Nile has been an active campaigner on many country issues, eg the Sale of the Snowy Hydro Scheme. Rev Nile moved in Parliament that it should never be sold until all eligible voters in NSW approved such a sale, via a Referendum. Unfortunately, the major parties and the Greens voted against Fred Nile’s Amendment.

He also led the campaign, in cooperation with the NSW Farmers’ Federation, against the draconian provisions of the Native Vegetation legislation, moving over 40 amendments.

He has also been active on many health issues such as long hospital waiting lists and harmful effects of illegal drugs – marijuana, heroin, cocaine and speed, as well as legal drugs – tobacco and alcohol. He successfully introduced Bills to prohibit tobacco advertising and smoking in public places.

He has been a vocal campaigner in support of family life, marriage and Christian values. He has been the only Member of Parliament to raise questions in Parliament concerning the impact of the Muslim religion in Australia, questions including school uniforms, women’s dress, terrorism etc.
