Protecting Families from Terrorism
Rev Fred Nile, leader of the Christian Democratic Party has introduced a Bill to the NSW Parliament that seeks to further protect the community from acts of terrorism and wanton violence.
“The ‘Crimes Amendment (Incitement or Promotion of Terrorism and Violence) Bill 2006’ will close loop holes in existing State and Federal law, ensuring that any act or material that incites or promotes terrorism (or other violence) will be an indictable offence.
Current protection from such acts revolves around the Crimes Act 1900, but little revision has taken place since the sedition amendments of World War I. There are areas that both State and Federal laws miss.
I hope that by introducing this Bill, any persons caught being involved in such acts will not be able to evade prosecution due to legal technicalities. The Bill will empower police to thwart acts of terrorism and violence and send a zero tolerance message to any so inclined.
I believe this legislation is imperative, we owe it to the families of NSW ”, Rev Fred Nile stated.
