500 BBQs or Dinner Parties
February 2005 Fundraising Project

During the month of February 2005 CDP members and supporters in every town in NSW are going to try to do the impossible!

THE PROJECT: Our target is to have 500 BBQs or dinner parties during the month of February, running in every town or suburb where we have CDP supporters. This idea is part of our new recruiting strategy to build our party. These dinners will be the prefect prelude to the March membership drive. This month, you will be inviting new friends over for dinner. Next month you can ask them to join CDP as members. We want YOU to organise a BBQ or dinner at your place.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:  Organise a group of your friends to come to your house for dinner/BBQ on a suitable date in February. Ask each person along by mailing or emailing the suggested invitation below, then give them a follow-up phone call to personalise the invitation. Ideally some will be CDP friends and others will be invited to find out more CDP. About 6-8 people is the right number. Ask them for a donation (say $15-$20 each) and then ask them to "bring a plate".

SOME IDEAS:  This event a great promotion for CDP and we need you to make it your own. During the night, have a quiz or two, tell some jokes, ask them questions about CDP and have prizes, and seek opportunities to tell them more about CDP. Get to know your CDP friends, help raise funds for CDP, and have lots of fun.

WHAT TO DO WITH THE MONEY:  All proceeds from this major fundraising drive will go towards the running costs of the CDP NSW State Office. Please forward the funds raised to the CDP office (GPO Box 141, SYDNEY NSW 2001) and include the following details:

  1. the date on which and the location at which your dinner was held,
  2. the number of people in attendance and at what ticket price,
  3. the amount of donations collected which were in excess of the ticket price (the ticket price includes GST but donations are GST-free), and
  4. a list of any expenses broken down into categories such as food, advertising etc.
  5. the net amount raised (this is the income minus the expenses and it should be the total of the funds being forwarded to the State office).

IT'S A COMPETITION!:  The total amounts raised by each branch will be published on this webpage as they filter through.

SAMPLE INVITATION:  Please use the sample invitation below to make up your own invitation.
