Born in Waterloo, Sydney in 1936.
Father: glass blower.
Mother: factory worker.
Elaine married Fred in 1958.
Four Children:
Stephen: NSW Senior Police Constable.
Sharon: Welfare Worker.
Mark: High School Sports Master.
David: NSW Senior Police Constable.
President, Women for the Family (1974-2002), Ex-Police Matron.
Elected as a Call to Australia Member to the NSW Legislative Council on 19th March 1988 for an 8 year term with 172,225 primary votes and 240,676 votes including preferences.
Re-elected in 1995 for a further 8 year term with 101,556 primary (first preference) votes.
Elaine Nile was a Member of the NSW Parliamentary Study Committee on AIDS.
Elaine was also a member of the Police Promotion Select Committee which conducted several investigations in Canada, USA, UK and Netherlands.
Elaine was also a Member of the Ombudsman Committee.
Elaine Nile retired from Parliament in September 2002. Her Valedictory (Retirement) Speech can be read in the NSW Legislative Council Hansard dated 27 August 2002, Second Reading speeches to the Young Offenders Amendment Bill 2002.
