Preferences

A vote for Paul Green is NOT a wasted vote.... Some people are of the opinion that a vote for Paul Green is wasted if he does not win a seat. This is not so. If Paul Green does not get into the Senate your vote is not wasted but is then redistributed to others for whom you have voted (according to your preferences). For example, in the Senate (Upper House), if you simply vote 1 above the line in column "R" for Christian Democratic Party and Paul Green does not win a seat, your vote will be passed on to Family First party - and, if they do not win a seat, your vote will be passed on to a number of micro-parties who will probably not get enough votes to get elected, and then most of your vote will likely end up with the Liberal/National party. If you do not agree with these preference allocations, you would instead number all the boxes below the thick black line in your preferred order, starting with Paul Green at number 1. We need 4% of NSW voters to vote "1" for Paul Green as described above, in order for us to receive public election funding to pay for this campaign - which will help us to avoid going into debt.
